About

Haus Schwenk is a LARP and SCA family based in the East Mountains of New Mexico. Reinhold Schwenk is hausherr, and the household includes his son Ulrich, along with the friends and allies we've picked up along the way.Most of our LARP time is in Amtgard, playing the Kingdom of Dragonspine at Pegasus Valley park. On the SCA side, we're in the Kingdom of the Outlands, Barony of Al-Barran. In both games we enjoy the arts and sciences just as much as the martial side. Our favorite part of both is the friends we get to see every time we play.At Hof Schwenk we host D&D nights, crafting nights, and holiday celebrations like Yule and Walpurgisnacht, along with a few other Germanic holidays through the year.

Our Heraldry

Our device is blazoned Sable, three ears of maize slipped and leaved argent. It's technically Reinhold Schwenk's registered device in the SCA, but for now it represents the whole household.The herald who registered it left this note. "Nice device and congratulations on being the defining instance of maize in SCA armory."The design is rooted in the history of the Schwenk family, known as Swank in America, whose roots trace back to Allegheny Township, Pennsylvania, where the family settled and began making their livelihood as farmers. The black field represents the fertile soil they worked. The three silver ears of maize represent abundance and also our mixed Native American heritage. They're rendered in silver for the moonlight, since our family patriarch passed on the full moon in midwinter. The colors carry that same image, illumination found in darkness. One of our ancestors was remembered in his obituary as a community servant known for his wise counsel.

Reinhold Schwenk

Reinhold Schwenk is the hausherr of his household within the greater Schwenk family estate, a farmer, scribe, and the conductor of Heathen celebrations for his family and friends, including his annual Yule feast at Hof Schwenk.He has a deep love for archiving, seen in his interest in journaling, videography, photography, and genealogy. He also enjoys World of Warcraft, all kinds of crafting, and good food.In Amtgard he's a sixth level Warrior, currently training toward Paladin. Check out his ORK here:Reinhold's ORK

Ulrich "Snake Tongue" Schwenk

Ulrich is the heir to Haus Schwenk, son of Reinhold Schwenk. His biological mother left for adventures in the far north and never returned.He got his nickname as a small kid. He tripped while running with a bottle in his mouth and bit his tongue down the middle, like a snake. The scar's still there today.He's into Minecraft, BeamNG Drive, online gaming in general, cars, Legos, and playing outside.InAmtgard he mains Assassin, currently leveling up as a Scout. Herr Kruste der Mäusefänger

Kruste, or "Crust," got his unfortunate name in his first few weeks of life. Not long after we impulsively adopted him from some man's truck bed in the Walmart parking lot, a crusty, swollen eyelid landed him a $200 vet visit. He's all better now. These days he serves as the mouser of Haus Schwenk, apex hunter and self-appointed head of home defense against anything small enough to threaten the farm.
